Introduction

I made this book because, while visiting state capitals around the country, I realized there was not one guide with the kind of information I wanted about each place. This became a way to share what I learned and help other people, whether they are traveling to a capital city or already live near one, understand what makes each place special.

Visiting all 50 state capitals was a really fun adventure. It was cool to see how different every capitol building looked and how much the scenery changed from state to state. Some capitals were in huge cities like Boston and Austin, while others, like Montpelier and Augusta, were small towns, but they all had interesting things to see.

Two of my favorite capitals were Montpelier, Vermont, and Springfield, Illinois. I loved Montpelier because the scenery was really pretty, especially in the fall when we visited, and the town felt warm and cozy even though it was cold outside. I liked Springfield because the architecture was beautiful and reminded me of French architecture.

I hope this book helps other kids, families, travelers, and people who live near state capitals notice things they might not have known before, and encourages them to visit more state capitals, especially their own if they have not already.
